566th WE-Heraeus-Seminar

Mechanisms, Strategies, and Evolution of Microbial Systems

Venue: Physikzentrum Bad Honnef, Bad Honnef, Germany

Date: 15 - 19 June 2014

We want to bring together scientists working on different aspects of microbial systems:

  • Biophysical mechanisms: gene regulation, bacterial motility and molecular motors, cell interactions

  • Cellular strategies: response to environmental changes

  • Evolution: experiments, statistical mechanics theory

An important aim of this meeting is to connect young and established researchers in this field into a community, and to demonstrate how different research areas contribute to understanding biological systems. Sessions on biophysical mechanisms, cellular strategies, and microbial evolution will be designed to etablish links between these topics. Although the meeting is short and intense, time will be provided for informal scientific exchange between speakers and participants. The physics center in Bad Honnef has a beautiful location on the Rhine River between Bonn and Koblenz.

The seminar will be generously funded by the Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation.
